Early afternoon. The base has set enough to walk on. Loose flake gets scraped and vacuumed back off, which is the messiest and most tedious part of the day.
Mid afternoon. Clear topcoat, then we are out.
You can walk on it that evening. Vehicles go back the next day. Compare that with a full epoxy build, which needs overnight between coats and about a week before it will take tire weight without marking.
Bare concrete looks solid and behaves like a sponge. Chloride brine drips off the underside of a vehicle, wicks into the pores, and goes to work on the cement paste binding the aggregate together. The visible result arrives in stages: first a chalky film when you sweep, then shallow pits around the parking spots, then genuine spalling where the top layer flakes off in sheets.

Epoxy makes more sense in a heated basement or utility room where nothing sees daylight, the temperature is stable, and you are not in a hurry to use the space. It goes on thicker per coat, so it does a better job of filling a rough or slightly uneven slab, and it costs meaningfully less.

No. Chloride brine attacks bare cement paste, which is why uncoated slabs here start shedding sand after a few winters. A sealed floor keeps the brine on the surface where a mop removes it. Rinse the floor a few times over winter and the coating will outlive the vehicle parked on it.
